Manoj Kumar, Patriotic Film Star, Passes Away at 87 in Mumbai

Manoj Kumar Passes Away : Famous actor and film producer Manoj Kumar died in a Mumbai hospital in the early hours of Friday. He was 87 years old. Manoj Kumar's family friend and film producer Ashok Pandit said that Kumar was ill for some time and died at around 3:30 am due to age-related problems. On the death of Manoj Kumar, film producer Ashok Pandit said that 'The great Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner, our inspiration and the 'lion' of the Indian film industry Manoj Kumar ji is no longer among us. This is a great loss for the film industry and the entire industry will miss him.' Dada Saheb Phalke Award winner Kumar received immense love from the public for films like Shaheed, Upkaar and Purva Aur Paschim.

Who is Manoj Kumar?
The real name of Bollywood's veteran actor Manoj Kumar was Harikishan Giri Goswami. He was born in a Brahmin family in Abbottabad city of Pakistan, also known as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After independence, the family moved to India. Actor Manoj Kumar saw the pain of partition with his own eyes. He was fond of acting since childhood. He started his acting career with the film 'Fashion' in the year 1957. After this, his film 'Kaanch Ki Gudiya' was released in 1960.
